How to Find a Park in Tokyo

Now that the weather is cooling down, between typhoons it is a fantastic time to enjoy the parks with your kids. Here are 2 English sites where you can find some of the better known and larger parks around Tokyo.

Tokyo Metropolitan Park Association
Tokyo Metropolitan Parks and Gardens List

My favourites are:
Rinshinomori in Meguro-Ku
Kasai Rinkai in Edogawa-Ku
Mukojima-Hyakkaen in Sumida-Ku

Rinshinomori Park

In 1900 this park began as the Meguro Experimental Nursery for the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce, it later become Rinshinomori Park in 1989. The beautiful greenery, streams and winding paths are popular with bike riders and joggers. The "Great Field" is a must for a picnic when the cherry blossoms are out in spring and the kids love the splashing pool in summer. There is also play equipment and a sand pit for children too.

Location: 2-6-11 Oyamadai,  Shinagawa-ku.

Phone: 03-3792-3800

Train: 10 minute walk from Musashi-Koyama on the Mita and Namboku lines.

Bus: 1 minute wak from Rinshinomori-Iriguchi bus stop on Tokyu bud no.72 between Gotanda and Shibuya.

Car: Plenty of coin parking in the area.
